For items - such as bed toppers, whilst the care instructions may say wash before using (which is beneficial in removing chemicals) but the suggestion, if you are not able to wash or take to a laundromat or drycleaner, is to just simply hang out on the line, for a couple of hours, with partial sunshine on a breezy day .  This will ensure that it has been aired and will be quite sufficient to put on your bed - as you will have a sheet on the top of that. And further to cleaning, to increase the life of your product, it is also suggested that every few months you do above and then just make a habit of getting it professionally cleaned at the end of summer!

Did you know - when you buy new sheets or duvet covers, they look clean and attractive in the packaging, but the presence of chemicals such as formaldehyde, propane and butane, maintains this crisp 'new' state. These chemicals may be harmful to your skin and body so it is important to rid them by washing prior to use.

Did you know - that by washing, especially 100% cotton products and removing the chemicals, that you actually improve the cotton, making the fabric softer with each wash.

Let your local drycleaner do this for you - especially for the first wash, as this will not only eliminate these harmful chemicals but by 'steaming' the fabric it will also eliminate the creases, by relaxing the fibres, so next time you wash these items, it will be so much easier for you to process.
